One-night stand man wakes to find lover has carved her name into his arm

A drunken fling ended in disaster for a man who woke up to find his lover’s name carved into his arm.

Dominique Fisher, 22, used a Stanley knife to write her name on Wayne Robinson’s upper arm.

She inflicted the injuries on the 24-year-old at her home in Blackburn, Lancashire.

Mr Robinson woke to find his body decorated with a star on his back, ‘Dominique’ written on his upper right arm, and numerous slash marks on his left arm and shoulder.

He told police he had drunk vodka and taken Valium and was not awake during the incident on the night of June 14 last year.

Mr Robinson said he panicked when he woke up and took a taxi back to his home in Fleetwood, Lancashire.

He said: ‘I went to her place for sex, not to be tattoed. I can’t believe she did this to me and I hate her.

When I woke I was covered in blood. Dominique was snoring. I just had to get out of there. I didn’t even wake her to ask what she’d done.’

‘I’m scarred for life,’ he told The Sun. ‘I wish I’d never met her.’

Fisher was found guilty of one charge of unlawful wounding at Preston Crown Court on Monday, following a two-day trial.

She will be sentenced on February 27 at Preston Crown Court.

Niet echt meteen “a day in the life“, maar enkele dingen die me vandaag overkwamen:

- Nieuwe portefeuille met veiligheid is gearriveerd. Handig tegen zakkenrollers wanneer ik op reis ga.

- Van één van mijn bazen een fles Saint James rum gekregen. Zomaar, omdat ik zo goed werk lever voor hem. Het is leuk geapprecieerd te worden, en hij wist blijkbaar zelfs nog dat ik liever geen Bacardi drink als ik kan kiezen :). Iemand zin in Mai Tais of Mojito’s dit weekend?

- Plannen opgevat om volgend jaar eens naar Griekenland te trekken. De Trojaanse oorlog en de Griekse tragedies boeien me al lang genoeg, het wordt tijd daar eens voet aan land te zetten. Zeker op het programma: een bezoek aan het orakel van de doden, dat Odysseus bezocht zou hebben. Ik wil op dezelfde stenen lopen als hij. En eventueel in hetzelfde jaar een bezoek aan het orakel van de doden nabij Cuma in Italië, want mogelijk was dàt het orakel dat Odysseus bezocht (Italië was, voor de veroveringstochten van de Romeinen, grotendeels Grieks grondgebied). Ik wil op beide plaatsen staan, en zelf oordelen.

- Opgemerkt dat Google begint met een virtuele wereld à la Second Life: Lively. SL heb ik een tijd verkend, en er vele leuke dingen gevonden en leuke momenten beleefd, maar het heeft toch nog veel beperkingen. Als Google iets doet, doen ze het grondig, dus naar Lively ben ik zeer benieuwd. Het zal zonder twijfel een geduchte concurrent voor SL en andere virtuele werelden worden. Vanavond zet ik er mijn eerste stappen - het concept van een virtuele realiteit waar andere dingen mogelijk zijn, heeft me altijd geboeid. En het is vaak een mooi alternatief voor text-chatprogramma’s, en een mooie toevoeging aan Skype.

En de zaak ligt al zo gevoelig, met zoveel Mexicaanse migranten dat de Amerikaanse burgers er ongemakkelijk van worden, om maar te zwijgen van de Mexicaanse drugcartels. Veel Mexicanen zouden inderdaad dat gebied terug willen, ik ben benieuwd of deze marketing van Absolut een effect zal hebben op de veel grotere (en gevoeligere) Amerikaanse markt….

Absolut vodka pulls ad showing California in Mexico

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - The distillers of Sweden’s Absolut vodka have withdrawn an advertisement run in Mexico that angered many U.S. citizens by idealizing an early 19th century map showing chunks of the United States as Mexican.

The billboard ad has the slogan “In an Absolut World” slapped over a pre-1848 map showing California, Arizona and other U.S. states as Mexican territory. Those states were carved out of what had been Mexican lands until that year.

Although it was not shown in the United States, U.S. media outlets picked up on the ad, and after a barrage of complaints, Absolut’s maker said on Sunday the ad campaign would cease.

Defending the campaign last week, Absolut maker Vin & Spirit said the ad was created “with a Mexican sensibility” and was not meant for the U.S. market.

“In no way was this meant to offend or disparage, nor does it advocate an altering of borders, nor does it lend support to any anti-American sentiment, nor does it reflect immigration issues,” a spokeswoman wrote on Absolut’s Web site.

“Instead, it hearkens to a time which the population of Mexico may feel was more ideal,” she wrote.

Absolut’s blog cite has received more than a thousand comments since the ad campaign was launched a few weeks ago, with many calling for boycotts of the Swedish company.

“I have poured the remainder of my Absolut bottles down the sink,” one blogger wrote.

A war between Mexico and the United States from 1846 to 1848 started with Mexico’s refusal to recognize the U.S. annexation of Texas and ended with the occupation of Mexico City by U.S. troops.

At the end, Mexico ceded nearly half of its territory to the United States, forming the states of California, Nevada, Utah and parts of Colorado, Arizona,New Mexico and Wyoming.

Mexicans remain sensitive about the loss and the location of the border. At the same time, the United States is fortifying barriers to keep out undocumented Mexican migrants.

Some Mexicans use the term “Reconquista” (reconquest) to refer to the growing presence in California of Mexican migrants and their descendants.

France’s Pernod Ricard is taking over Absolut vodka, one of the world’s top-selling spirit brands, after buying Vin & Spirit from the Swedish government at the end of March.
