Inderdaad een film om te bekijken, zit ook reeds enkele jaren in mijn collectie.
Telegraph: Peeping Tom, the film that killed a career.
“The ciritics poured scorn on Michael Powell’s ‘Peeping Tom’ when it first came out 50 years ago, but now it is regarded as a masterpiece”
“Over the years, several important filmmakers searched out rare prints of Peeping Tom, and with a calmness absent from the controversy that surrounded its 1960 release, concluded this was a work of substantial merit.
One was Martin Scorsese, already a confirmed fan of Powell’s films. He has remarked: “I have always felt that Peeping Tom and [Fellini’s] 8½ say everything that can be said about filmmaking, about the process of dealing with film, the objectivity and subjectivity of it and the confusion between the two. Peeping Tom shows the aggression of it, how the camera violates.””
“It is now regarded as a key film in British cinema history and one of the greatest horror movies of all time.”
